Legend has it that King Louis XVI of France requested Brie as his last meal. Faced with the impending loss of his head, Louis still managed to cling onto his good taste in fromage.
Wednesday's Formal Hall began with Brie en Croute (sans the impending doom) accompanied with figs and balsamic glaze.
Following on from the Brie we served honey and lemon-thyme sorbet.
The main course consisted of free-range chicken with pommes de terre puree, mango salsa and black olives.
(Vegetarians were served stir-fried vegetables in a Chinese pancake.)
The sweet was an American kids dream; chocolate bouchon (brownie) with peanut butter ice cream, peanut brittle and chocolate sauce. Brittle is flat, broken pieces of hard candy embedded with nuts; terrible for your teeth, but tastes great!
