Seikei High School Summer Programme Formal Hall Dinner 14th July

Both the School's name-Seikei,(sei ) meaning to make and (kei ) a path, and it's emblem- the peach , have their origins in the 130-volume work titled Historical Memoirs, written by Si-ma Qian in China some 2,100 years ago. Among the many people and historical events written about in this work is a man of great integrity named General Li, whom Si-ma Qian compares to a peach. Just as the sweetness of peaches attracts people, who create a path to the tree, General Li's virtue attracted people to him.

Last night marked the first Formal dinner for this year's Seikei High School Summer Programme. Traditionally, we like to serve English food to our guests on their first evening at Pembroke, we find that Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding always goes down well!
Last night's meal began with a Cornish crab cocktail, served with avocado and sweetcorn sorbet. This starter contains the traditional ingredients found in a crab salad, with the addition of an interesting sorbet.
Next up, we served the roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables. The roast meal is a traditional British favourite, normally served on a Sunday afternoon and followed by a nap in the armchair!
To finish the meal, we served a peach and cherry salad accompanied by a pistachio milk shake; lots of fun!
Bon Appetite!
