Last Night's Formal Hall Thursday 20th May

Summer is here, and with it comes fresh, vibrant, and colourful food!
All three of the dishes from last night's dinner came from Bouchon, by Thomas Keller. Bouchon the book, is named after Bouchon the restaurant, situated next door to Thomas Keller's French Laundry restaurant in California. The style of food at Bouchon is very 'French bistro', and compliments nicely with his fine dining restaurant next door.

We began last night with homemade gnocchi (OK, so maybe it's not all French bistro!) served with lovely summer vegetables and Parmesan cheese. We've recently been able to source yellow zuchinni to serve with our green courgettes, a very nice combination!
Next up came grilled trout, wild rice and a fennel-onion confit. This was finished with an olive tapanade. Vegetarians were served grilled and smoked tofu.
To finish a lovely evening, we served almond cake with a strawberry-rhubarb compote; summer on a plate!
Bon Appetite!
